CulinaryCorps® was founded in 2006 with the aim of creating a world-class service organization for culinary professionals.
Founder Christine Carroll laid the foundation for the organization following a Share Our Strength conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, which she attended as a Henckels Cutting Edge scholarship recipient. In New Orleans, she experienced first-hand one of America’s few indigenous cuisines, and she worked alongside those fighting to preserve it during the post-Katrina rebuilding.
Shortly after her return home to New York City, Christine launched CulinaryCorps to enable culinary students and professionals to volunteer their skills for the benefit of communities in need.
Today, CulinaryCorps continues to design and launch short-term food-focused volunteer service trips, and the diverse teams of volunteer chefs recruited to participate continue to enrich lives through good food.

In 2009, I was selected as one of ten chefs to participate in the 2010 CulinaryCorps service trip to Puerto Rico. Over 70 applicants applied for seven open slots and I was excited to have made the cut! During February 2010, I took a week out of my year to lend my support as a cook to communities and organizations throughout the island.
In November of 2011 I was selected once again to be part of the Culinary Corps Alumni Trip to New Orleans and Mississippi. Once again I was able to be part of an incredible Team of Chefs.
